National Lottery Heritage Fund: Large Heritage Grants
Grants of between £250,000 and £10m to help local authorities, not-for-profit organisations, and private owners of a heritage asset with projects that value, care for and sustain heritage (including nature and habitats) for everyone across the UK, now and in the future.
Apply by: Applications are accepted all year round (decisions made quarterly – next deadline for applications 12pm, 6th August)
Heart Research UK: Healthy Heart Grants
Grants of up to £15,000 for community projects aimed at supporting adults to reduce their risk of coronary heart disease with a main focus on one or more of the following areas: healthy eating, physical activity, smoking or alcohol.
Apply by: The application window for England South is 15th July to 12th August
The Grocers’ Charity: Small Grants
One-off grants of up to £5,000 for UK registered charities (annual income below £500,000) working across a wide range of themes, including heritage, environment and conservation, health, disability and inclusion, children and young people, and the elderly.
Apply by: 15th August 2026 for initial application [note this fund closed early on 17th July due to demand]
Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust
Grants of up to £5,000 is available to places, organisations or individuals that can demonstrate horticultural competence to support horticultural projects for public benefit, such as the creation, development and restoration of gardens, plant study field trips, publications, horticultural research and training.
Apply by: There are two application periods per year, the next ends on 15th August (for funding in September)
King Charles III Charitable Fund
Grants of up to £3,000 per year for three years for UK-registered nonprofit organisations working on projects relating to the KCCF funding themes of Education and Heritage Conservation.
Apply by: The next application period opens on 5th August and closes at 12.00 on 19th August
SUEZ: Landfill Communities Fund
Grants of up to £50,000 for local authorities and not-for-profit organisations to undertake work that creates lasting physical improvements at a specific site including public amenity spaces, cycle paths, conservation and biodiversity, and maintenance or restoration of a historic building or site. Projects must be within an active Suez funding zone. Funding is in two tiers: more frequently funded ‘smaller projects’ (projects costing less than £40,000) £3,000-£20,000; ‘primary fund’ (projects costing up to £250,000) £3,000-£50,000.

Heathrow Community Trust: Environment and Sustainability Grants
Funding for organisations including local authorities (working in partnership with voluntary of community organisations), charities and schools in Ealing, Hounslow, Richmond upon Thames and Hillingdon for small projects (max £60,000) that align with HTC priorities, of which Communities Together (protecting and enhancing our local environment, improving community facilities for all ) and Environment & Sustainability (protecting and enhancing our natural environment) are the most relevant to parks services.
Apply by: There are two application periods per year, the next runs from 2nd July to 3rd September (for decision in October)
City Bridge Foundation: Climate and Environmental Justice
Core and flexible grants of up to £450,000 (dependent on income) over five years for community‑led organisations delivering climate and environmental justice work in London through one or more of the following three approaches: place-based resilience, community organising and influence, or storytelling and narrative change.
Apply by: The deadline for the current round is 12.00 8th September
City of London: Enjoying Green Spaces and the Natural Environment
Grants of between £2,000 and £15,000 for registered charities and constituted voluntary organisations working across the City of London-managed green spaces (Hampstead Heath, Epping Forest, West Ham Park, Highgate Wood, Queen’s Park, Ashtead Common, The Coulsdon Commons, West Wickham Commons and Burnham Beeches and Stoke Common). Proposals must address one of the four funding priorities: improving the conservation value and/or biodiversity of the identified green space(s); connecting new communities with their green spaces; providing opportunities for children and young people to learn about and engage with nature; improving wellbeing through the use of green spaces.
Apply by: The deadline for the current round is 12.00 noon on the 21st September
London Marathon Foundation: Active Spaces Fund
Grants of between £10,000 and £80,000 (capital projects may be eligible for more in some circumstances) is available to Local Authorities, community organisations, charities, schools, sports clubs and faith centres for projects in London that improve spaces and facilities and help the least active children, young people and underserved groups and communities to lead active and healthy lives.
Apply by: Expressions of Interest can be submitted all year round. If the EoI is successful application rounds are quarterly (next deadline for applications 23rd September 2026 – decisions made end of November for applications less than £100,000; end of December for those over £100,000)
Veolia Environmental Trust: Habitat and Biodiversity Grants
Grants of between £10,000 and £75,000 to help constituted not-for-profit organisations, local authorities, and Environmental Bodies to support the improvement or creation of natural habitats within an eligible postcode.
Apply by: There are four funding periods annually, the next period runs from 20th August – 1st October (for decision 1st December)
Veolia Environmental Trust: Community Grants
Grants of between £10,000 and £75,000 to help constituted not-for-profit organisations, local authorities, and Environmental Bodies to create or improve buildings or outside spaces within an eligible postcode area for the benefit of the community. This grant has a relatively straightforward application process and has been found to be effective for funding playgrounds, particularly when the application is led by a community group in collaboration with the local authority.

The Wildlife Trusts: Green Community Grants
One-year flexible funding of up to £25,000 for registered charities and not-for-profit groups in England, Scotland and Wales with an annual income between £10,000 and £1 million. Organisational objects should align to: contributing to nature recovery and responding to the climate emergency, and/or improving nature-rich spaces and access to them. Funding can be used for wider sustainability activities, such as recycling, litter picking in nature rich spaces, and sustainable transport.
Apply by: There are two application periods a year, the next runs from 30th September to 21st October.
Tree Council/DEFRA: Trees Outside Woodlands Fund
Grants of between £10,000 and £40,000 for Local Authorities and registered charities in England for capital costs associated with the purchase of trees and establishment aids.
Apply by: Applications are open until 31 October 2026 or until all funding has been allocated, with applications reviewed in the order they are received – so early applications are encouraged.
Greater London Authority: Green Roots Fund
Grants of £10,000 to £500,000 for local authorities and not-for-profit organisations to create and improve green and blue infrastructure in London. Over £12m of funding is available over the next three years to help make neighbourhoods across the capital greener, healthier and more climate resilient.
Apply by: Applications are accepted all year round (decisions made twice a year – next deadline for applications 2pm, Thursday 14th January 2027)
Span Trust
Grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 are available to charitable organisations, for projects with an element of design, within London and the surrounding areas. Projects should alleviate poverty, disability, age or ill health, and advance urban regeneration through the improvement of the built environment. The Span Group is a design and architectural practice in northwest London. They have previously funded green space projects, including a woodland planting project in Redbridge, a pan-London Trees for Cities project, and the Camden High Line.

Rolling funding
Architectural Heritage Fund: General and Heritage Impact Funds
Loans of up to £500,000 are available to not-for-profit organisations that are seeking to acquire, reuse, or redevelop buildings of historic or architectural importance for the benefit of communities, via AHF Heritage Impact and General Funds.

Bernard Sunley Foundation: Community Grants
Grants towards the refurbishment of community facilities, including sports centres, playing fields, pavilions, and playgrounds are available to registered charities and other not for profits (not including councils). There are three levels of grant, with no upper limit (£20,000 +, up to £20,000, and up to £5,000).

Biffa: Landfill Communities Fund
Grants of between £10,000 and £75,000 for eligible community focused projects with a cost of less than £200,000 within a certain radius of a Biffa operation or licensed landfill site. The four different funding streams are community buildings, recreation, cultural facilities, and rebuilding biodiversity. Eligible organisations must be fully constituted, charitable or not for profit with no share capital. The fund is not open to local authorities, hospitals (and other medical facilities), schools (and other educational facilities).
Apply by: Applications are accepted all year round (decisions are made quarterly, but it may take up to 6 months to hear if you have been successful)
Bowls England: Club Loans Scheme
Loans of up to £20,000 for clubs that have been affiliated with Bowls England for more than three years, for any reasonable purpose including to purchase equipment, repair ditches and banks, develop clubhouses, or renovate changing rooms and facilities.

Esme Fairbairn Foundation
Unrestricted, core, project, and delegated grants of between £30,000 and £200,000+ are available to charities and other organisations that deliver sufficient public benefit, have good governance, and protection against private gain for charitable projects that support preserved and improved species health and habitats, sustainable and ethical food, or clean and healthy freshwater.

Football Foundation: Grass Pitch Maintenance fund
Grants for grassroots football organisations to sustain grass football pitches at a ‘good’ level (£3,840 max per 11-11 pitch) and to enhance pitches that are considered ‘poor’ or ‘basic’ (£12,800 max per 11-11 pitch). Funding is for a six year period reducing by a third every two years. Applicants must undertake an app based PitchPower pitch inspection in advance of application to identify priorities and actions that are eligible for funding.

Football Foundation: Grants
Grants of up to £25,000 (max 75% of project costs) are available for improving or creating football facilities for public use. Funding can go towards 3G or grass pitches, changing rooms and pavilions, improvement of small sided facilities, storage, fencing, and other football related equipment provided they are not for private gain.

Forestry Commission: England Woodland Creation Offer
Grants of up to £10,200 per hectare to support landowners, land managers and public bodies to create new woodland, including through natural colonisation, on areas as small as 1 hectare. An additional £12,700 in stackable payments is also available when delivering wider benefits to society, nature recovery and the environment.

Garfield Weston Foundation
Grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 (or millions for major grants) for UK registered charities to support core costs, capital projects and project specific activities.

Heritage of London Trust
Grants of up to £15,000 for the restoration of historic buildings and monuments which are available for public access and enjoyment.

Historic England: Repair Grants for Heritage at Risk
Grants towards the repair and conservation of listed buildings, scheduled monuments and registered parks and gardens. Grants are primarily for urgent repairs or other work required to address risk by preventing loss of or damage to important architectural, archaeological or landscape features. Work to parks and gardens may cover the repair of key features and other work which will conserve the design and form of the historic landscape.

HS2: Community and Environment Fund
Grants of up to £250,000 available to not-for-profit organisations and local authorities to off-set disruption to communities within 1km of the HS2 route. Priority areas in London are the Boroughs of Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Hillingdon.
Apply by: Applications are accepted all year round. For projects up to £100,000 you can expect a decision in 8 weeks. For projects between £100,001 and £250,000 the process takes at least 32 weeks for a two part application with the decision made by a panel that meets between two and four times per year.
John Ellerman Foundation
Grants of between £10,000 and £150,000 are available to UK registered charities (and campaigning organisation that have strong and clear reasons for not being a UK-registered charity) that have an impact at UK or national level, with an annual income £100,000 and £10m for projects that aim to advance the wellbeing of people, society and the natural world by focusing on the arts, environment and social action.

Lawn Tennis Association: Quick Assess Loan Scheme
Loans for LTA registered venues who wish to enhance their facilities and increase the number of local people playing tennis. Example projects include lighting upgrades and the creation of indoor and outdoor courts. Applicants are also expected to contribute to the project financially.

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority: Active Communities Grant Scheme
Grant funding for a maximum of 50% of project costs up to £5000 is available for not-for profits, registered charities, and voluntary/community organisations or companies based in the Authority’s funding region of London, Essex or Hertfordshire. The scheme provides financial assistance to long term projects that encourage people to be physically active across LVRPA’s portfolio of sports and leisure venues and green space.

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority: Community Access Fund
This Fund offers free access or travel to LVRPA venues and services including cycling, white water sports, ice skating, horse riding, hockey, tennis, camping, nature reserves, green spaces and heritage sites. The fund is open to not-for profit organisations (and schools for travel costs) that are based in the LVRPA funding area (parts of Greater London, Essex and Hertfordshire). The fund can cover activity costs, including the hire of LVRP facilities and coaches/instructors, typically up to the value of £1,000. Projects must align to LVRPA’s strategic objectives, and projects that have the potential to achieve the greatest impact will be prioritised.

Linder Foundation: Environment
The foundation offers an average of £15,000 in grant funding for charitable organisations undertaking for land-based projects relating to biodiversity, sustainable farming practice or species preservation/re-introduction. The funding must cover at least 50% of the project costs.

London Hearts: Public Access Defibrillator grant
Grants to help fund the purchase and storage of Mindray C1A public access defibrillators across Greater London. There are options for indoor and outdoor storage and security, along with free training. London Hearts can also provide support for fundraising.

Matthew Good Foundation: Grants for Good
Grants for not-for-profit organisations with an annual income of less than £50,000. Every three months the foundation shares £10,000 of unrestricted funding between five shortlisted projects which aim to have a positive impact on communities, people, and the environment. Applications are accepted all year round and funding is awarded every three months, with deadlines of 15th December, March, June, September (for decision by March, June, September, December).

Metropolitan Public Gardens Association: Grants
Grants of up to £1,500 for organisations, institutions, friends’ groups and amenity societies to enhance and/or preserve public open spaces across Greater London. Initiatives can include planting, creating raised beds, erecting sheds, acquiring tools and equipment as well as other necessary items such as compost, bulbs and seeds.

National Heritage Memorial Fund
Grants to help public bodies and other not-for-profit organisations to buy anything which is of outstanding importance to the national heritage and either at risk, or of memorial character – this includes parks, historic buildings and land. There is no upper limit to what can be applied for, but this is a funder of last resort, so applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have exhausted, or are exploring, other potential sources of funding. Please note they do not define heritage, importance or risk – it is up to applicants to make the case for each.

National Lottery Awards for All England: Community
Grants of between £300 and £20,000 for projects that help build strong relationships across communities, and/or improve the places and spaces that matter to people. Local authorities and not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply. Whilst statutory authorities can apply, priority is given to organisations with smaller income, so partnership bids between local authorities and third-sector organisations (led by the smaller of the two) appears to be a popular model.

National Lottery Community Fund: Reaching Communities England
Grants of £20,001 to £500,000 for projects that support places, people or communities experiencing poverty, disadvantage or discrimination, and support people and communities to shape the decisions that affect their lives. Projects that achieve one or two of the following ‘missions’ really well will be prioritised:
Support communities to
– come together, through inclusive places, spaces and activities
– help children and young people thrive
– be healthier, by addressing health inequalities, and helping prevent poor health;
– be environmentally sustainable by engaging with climate issues and having a positive environmental impact, and by improving access to quality natural spaces.
Local authorities and not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply.

National Lottery Heritage Fund: Medium Heritage Grants
Grants of between £10,000 and £250,000 to help local authorities, not-for-profit organisations, and private owners of a heritage asset with projects that connect people and communities to the national, regional and local heritage of the UK.

Persimmon: Community Champions
Grants of up to £6,000 are awarded by each of Persimmon’s 30 offices every quarter. Charities, sports clubs and community groups can fill out a short application form which is directed to the office nearest to them.

Social Investment Business: Energy Resilience Fund
A blended funding package of loan (60%) and grant (40%) of between £25,000 and £250,000 to help eligible charities and social enterprises in England improve their energy resilience.

Sport England: Movement Fund
Match funding to help get more people active, reduce the number of inactive people and tackle inequalities. Not for profit organisations such as sports clubs, charities, Local Authorities, schools etc. who have a crowd funding project can apply for up to 50% (max £15,000) of their target.

Swire Charitable Trust
Grants are available to UK registered charities for projects that align with the Swire Trust’s priorities of which Nature (supporting the UK’s biodiversity and connecting people to nature), and Heritage (regeneration through restoration) are the most relevant to park services. There is no set maximum or minimum amount available, though the maximum is typically no more than 10% of a charity’s income.

TCV: Chestnut Fund
Grants of up to £500 to support grassroots community groups and initiatives wanting to deliver practical volunteering that improves the natural physical environment and builds better connections between people and green spaces. Groups must join the TCV Community Network for free before applying for a Chestnut Fund grant.

Tesco: Stronger Starts
Grants of up to £1,500 to support local projects. Applications are open to all local good causes, but there is a focus on projects supporting young people and those providing food.

War Memorial Trust: Grants
Grants of up to 75% of eligible costs to support best practice repair and conservation works of war memorials. Most war memorials are eligible for support, but priority is given to those memorials in greatest need. Any custodian of a war memorial may apply for a grant, including individuals, local authorities or other organisations.

Grants for capital infrastructure – buildings (new build or refurbishments) and equipment available to charities, historic buildings & landscapes; not for profit organisations; educational institutions
