The pond in the park is now a thriving natural environment with dragonflies, newts and many pond creatures.

There are still too many reeds which tend to fall over and be pushed over by dogs, so the Friends will be taking more reeds out this week , so as not to disturb the existing wildlife, and will continue to add a mix of oxygenators and marginals such as yellow flag iris

FopVg are working with Simon Braidman (chief warden Stanmore marsh )  who represent Harrow nature heroes and get funding to run nature projects for juniors across the borough

They launched a pilot scheme called junior park rangers at Povg in summer holidays – 3 sessions – well attended – children and families did various projects and gained stamps in a log book – 3 stamps = bronze badge

Due to the success of the pilot – they have now proposed further  junior park rangers events

The activities are open to all and children will receive a stamp in their log books to work towards badges – provided and funded by Simon/ Caroline and Harrow nature heroes project.

Timings -10.30 – 1 /1.5 hrs – meet at drinking fountain

The Friends group maintains and  improves the park with harrow council and now has over 190 members and 430 followers on facebook –https://www.facebook.com/friendsofpinnervillagegardens/

Hi Antonia

Exciting to see new items in playground.

Very difficult to photo playground because so broad !

So hope you get better photos than these but in case not

Attached 3 photos. – Maybe not worth using.

A possible caption :  “Spot the changes !”

  1. Your layout of 4 raised planting beds, 2 either side of bench is shaping up well.

All best
